Our Story

Our Story -  Letter from Our Founder

It all started when I learned indoor air is 2-5 times more polluted than outdoor air. Wow! How does that happen?

As a sustainable living advocate with a prior career in furniture, that surprising fact spurred a deep dive into the impacts of home furnishings on our health and the planet. By deep dive, I mean deep dive About 10,000 hours of research and professional certification programs.

I discovered which common furniture materials and chemicals are harmful, and make our homes unhealthy. Which kinds of furniture damage the environment, and how. Then l researched the best alternatives out there with an eye for safety, eco-friendliness, and style.

These discoveries led to a sustainable home consulting project for a couple and their young daughter. I sourced a wonderful sofa, bedroom set, dining table and more to fill their home with pieces that reflect their values. They inspired me to share my finds with other conscious shoppers.

I founded UrbisEco Home to make it easy to find truly sustainable, nontoxic, and stylish furniture. Our curated collections offer pieces for every room, made by industry leaders and up-and-coming designers.

Christina holds a WELL AP certificate through the International WELL Building Institute® (IWBI®), a public benefit corporation whose mission is to improve human health and well-being through the built environment.

Her sustainable living insights have appeared in the WSJ, Well + Good, USA Today, and Consumer Reports. She was an art curator in a past career, and brings that art eye to bear hear too.
